About MACS CARE
A NEW ERA OF CHILD SAFETY
We believe every child has the right to feel safe, heard and supported to flourish. In 2025, we took critical steps to ensure care is active, responsibility is shared and action is taken – always and without hesitation.
We’ve strengthened our commitment to child safety through MACS Care and a renewed Child Safety and Wellbeing Framework – together these twin initiatives are further embedding child safety into daily practice, leadership and culture across our schools.
A FRAMEWORK FOR SAFETY
The renewed Framework is anchored by and builds on the Victorian Child Safe Standards. It sets the standard, and provides a shared language where clear expectations and practical guidance enable us to uphold our commitment to child safety in every MACS school.
Through MACS Care, we are boosting awareness and accountability, and inspiring action at every level to ensure the safety of children and young people in our care.
Care reflects the heart of our Catholic mission. Every child’s safety and wellbeing is central to everything we do.
MACS Care in action
MACS Care focuses on embedding the Victorian Child Safe Standards and strengthening trust in Catholic education.
This online resource guides staff through an 11-month journey, with each month dedicated to one of the 11 Child Safe Standards, supported by a range of MACS Care tools and training kits.

We’re grateful to the students, educators and staff whose insights helped shape MACS Care. Their contributions have strengthened a strategy that reflects our shared responsibility for child safety and wellbeing – a commitment that will guide our actions, culture and accountability into the future.

Artwork commissioned for MACS by Peek Whurrong woman and artist, Bayley Mifsud of the Maar nation (Warrnambool).
The focal point of the artwork is a meeting place to represent Naarm (Melbourne), the home base of MACS’ operations. Throughout the artwork are many smaller meeting places to represent each of the schools that form the MACS’ network.
At the top of the artwork is a journey line, representing MACS’ current journey of reconciliation. In the bottom left of the artwork are two more journey lines to recognise the past and future as the journey to reconciliation is ongoing.
On the left of the artwork are seven connected meeting places representing the MACS’ learning programs.
The colours, chosen in consultation with MACS’ representatives, are vibrant to represent the youth that the MACS’ network aims to educate and care for.
